If you're a smoker and you wanna adopt, better stop smoking ASAP if you are living in London! The local authority in northeast London said the decision, which will come into force in 2010, was made to protect children from the "damaging effects of passive and second-hand smoke." I personally hate smoking cigarettes and just wish they never existed so I stand fully behind this new law. However I can see how a lot of other people may say this is taking away their freedom and it is crossing a personal line, but hey if you really want to have children I think this sacrifice is a small one. i think this is a great idea!! so many children who are exposed to second hand smoke suffer many health problems later in life, and I don't think that it's fair that they have no say in the environment in which they are brought up in! I hope this rule spreads to other countries!
